The Item Master in Inventory is the single catalogue of everything you buy, stock, sell or consume in production - boards, hardware, consumables and finished products. Every other module that references an item (a sales quote, a purchase order, a bill of materials) points back to this same master, so there’s one definition of “what this item is,” not several disconnected lists.
How items are organised
- Item Categories and Item Groups - for browsing and reporting by type.
- Brands / Makes - where the same generic item comes from different suppliers.
- Units of Measure - kept consistent across purchasing, stock and the design/BOM engine, so a “sheet” means the same thing everywhere.
- Tax Master - the tax rate an item carries onto sales and purchase documents.
Searching for an item
From Inventory → Item Master, search by name, code, category or brand. The same search and item picker appears wherever an item needs to be selected - a sales quotation line, a purchase order line, a work order’s material list - so the workflow is consistent regardless of which module you’re working in.
Stock visibility
Stock Enquiry shows real-time on-hand quantity by warehouse for any item. This is the same data purchase and production decisions are made from - there’s no separate “reporting copy” of stock that can drift out of sync with the operational one.
Price lists
If you sell the same item at different prices to different customer segments or channels, Price Lists let you maintain that without duplicating the underlying item record.
